About Chesapeake Bay & Maryland
Fishing
Location
Location is selected based upon many factors. Fishing
near my home port of St. Michaels is given highest preference.
This extends into the Eastern Bay, and Kent Narrows
as well. Fishing performance
varies constantly and I go with the best fishing sometimes traveling miles to get on bigger fish. The direction of the prevailing wind
or tides also play a role in selection of location.
Locations may be suggested based upon the guest(s)
interests and time allocated for an outing. Special
big game trips can be booked for Tuna and dolphin-fish
on fly.
Time
The time for the outing starts at the departure time
agreed to by the guest(s) and Captain. Depending upon
the season early departures and late evenings can prove
very productive. Talk to the Captain and tailor the
trip to match your fishing interest. Maryland fishing
after dark is highly recommended during warmer months
of summer. This is anytime, between sundown and sunrise.
Starting times for these are flexible.
Clothing
You should wear seasonal clothing. Dress in layers
to provide warmer clothing for early morning starts
or end of day Maryland fly-fishing. The sun will burn
you even on cloudy days. Sunscreen works, use it. A
day of fishing turns very uncomfortable for a sun burn
victim. A light rain might bring the best fishing of
the day, bring rain gear if you have it. Use good quality
sunglasses for your outing. They can help your accuracy
as much as your back cast on a sunny Maryland day.
Food and Drink
Full day booking includes lunch. This
includes sandwich and side with cold drinks. Special
diet considerations should be discussed in advance.
For half-day outings I provide beverages.
Feel free to bring food or drink of your own. Ice can
be provided in a built in cooler on the boat to keep
items cool. Space is limited. Please don't expect to
bring a cooler on board. Please no glass or alcoholic
beverages of any kind. [top]
